Is it really impossible to buy Office 2010?

I have a very simple and - it seems to me - reasonable wish: I want to buy - for a newly acquired PC (windows 7) the package "Office 2010" for the simple reason that we are three to four people who like to work on our Excel and Word files with the identical software.

I do *not* want to have one of us using 2013 because this carries the risk of (involontarily) introducing features which cannot be "digested" by the others.

I definitely do not need any "improvements" contained in 2013.

It seems that it is impossible to by "Office 2010" at this moment in time = June 2014.

Any help, any explanations?

Still hoping, Bernd

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
i have seen genuine versions available via ebay and amazon. And I know of 2007 which has worked and activated recently from a reliable seller on ebay.

you do need to check and make sure there is a returns policy if unable to validate

what country are you in

Thank you for these first hints. I am really surprised how MS willingly makes live difficult for users.

Physically I may be in different countries, but all software we bought in shops (including the other Office versions) belong to Geneva, Switzerland, where we are also located officially.

I kept a distance from ebay in areas related to work, but I will have a look in amazon.

Greetings, Bernd

its possible you may already have it, in a work environment, have you spoken to your IT function , they may have a company license agreement and the software already

It seems to be available from Microsoft:

Buy office 2010 - Microsoft Office

Thanks, but this is just one of the many examples showing the contempt with which MS treats its users.

When you click on this or many similar links you are lead to Office 2013 (or 365).

My retailer (where I bought the new PC, and who installed Windows 7) already warned me, my last hope rests in this forum.

Unfortunately not. We are just three to four people, and I am the IT function ;-((
I bought the previous three PCs each with its own Office, and have realized only now, that I had bought a single user, single PC license (the socalled PKC).

Yes, this was my mistake, but I could not imagine the present situation ...

Hi etaf,
I managed!!! Thanks to you I did try amazon and they sold it (via a company called B7 software). It was still hard work because all sorts of obstacles occurred, but I managed to install it eventually.

I still do not understand why MS tries to push users towards competitors (Open Office or LibreOffice), but they certainly have their reasons.

In any case, Thank you very much for your advice.

your welcome,
MS just pushes its latest product , like most companies I guess, they do not hold on to stocks of old versions and ships them out to the distribution chain

I have been playing with outlook 2013 v 2010 and it has a few features that 2010 used to do by default - like reminders and now makes it slightly more difficult on MS own outlook.com site - the default is using exchange active-sync and does not support reminders

I am not refusing latest products but I hate to be forced to use something which is a) not needed and b) will make collaboration between people of very different levels more confusing.

If I did not use macros extensively I would have taken already the step of switching over to Open Office.
