Was trying to write a match formula with a defined name range.
=MATCH("Satisfactory",Yellow, 0)

This gives an N/A error. Is it possible?

Thanks.

Hi,

Your match formula is correct ...

Just make sure ... your named range ' Yellow ' does include Satisfactory ...
and make sure the spelling of Satisfactory is identical to the one located within ' Yellow '

Hope this will help

Yes, the "#N/A" error usually means it is not finding any matches.
Note that it needs to match exactly. Something as simple as an extra space on the end of "Satisfactory " will cause it NOT to match.

Your named range needs to be a contiguous range, otherwise it won't work.

I was trying to write it to find any that match to give the count. Some of the fields I my defined search are not satisfactory. So, it gives an #na error.

Match does not give a count, it simply finds the first match.

If you want a count, try:
Code:
[COLOR=#333333]=COUNTIF(Yellow,"Satisfactory")[/COLOR]
