I often come across situation when I copy and paste data from web pages, the data contains unknown characters usually ascii code 160 and few more.

I usually just insert additional column and use the formula text("values","0") to remove unknown characters.

Is there any possibility I can just simply replace using "ctrl + h" i.e. find and replace ?

Excel Facts

What is the fastest way to copy a formula?
If A2:A50000 contain data. Enter a formula in B2. Select B2. Double-click the Fill Handle and Excel will shoot the formula down to B50000.
In the find box, press and hold the Alt key, amd on the NUMERIC keypad, enter 0160 (the code for a non-breaking space). Replace with a normal space.
