Is it possible to protect different columns with different passwords in the same Sheet?

I am trying to protect different columns with different passwords so different users can only write in their own column?

Many thanks

Whats the difference between CONCAT and CONCATENATE?
The newer CONCAT function can reference a range of cells. =CONCATENATE(A1,A2,A3,A4,A5) becomes =CONCAT(A1:A5)
Hi Chaz,

A few years back I needed a workbook with a common worksheet (announcements to all staff) and then worksheets individually pass-worded (for me to communicate privately with each staff member). I had staff on a 24/7 roster that I often didn't get to see some of for extended periods so, this workbooks function was really a Department Diary with a section that allowed me to give feedback proximate to an event without everyone being able to read it (the old management 101 rule of 'don't discipline in front of their peers and subordinates').

Unfortunately, I have moved companies so, will have to hunt back a few years to find it... when I do I'll post the solution link here... unless somebody gives you a solution meantime.

Cupsay.

Many thanks Cupsay,

I need it to each sales person post his report and no one else can edit his report but can see it.
I would love to find a way to protect certain columns with different passwords.

Thanks

Chaz

I don't think you can do specifically what you are asking, but you could create a workbook with a main tab with your password that contained the summary data, then create a tab for each employee and let them individually protect their sheets and link the cells in the main tab to the data entered in the employee tabs.

Hi Chaz,
In the event I can't find the file I had that did this [it was in a computer I used 3 laptops back from the one I use now] I found this link. I'll try to test it but, if you get their first just post back it worked.

microsoft excel - Individual Columns Password Protected - Super User

I'm not sure what the 'attributable' policy is but I found this on a site called Superuser and was a solution given by a member of that site called teylyn.

Chaz,

Here is another set of solutions that I found on Excel Forum:

Multiple passwords in single spreadsheet

This is also an interesting post for a less salubrious reason in that one guru (in my humble opinion) unnecessarily rebukes another... unnecessary because these gurus generously give of their personal time free advice to the (much appreciated) education of those trying to get the most out of this amazing software. Given a better solution(?) was offered... more kudos would have attached itself to the redirection if that was all that was done, adding a snide remark to the apology given might cause the erring guru to stop helping the likes of you and me... I guess it takes all sorts.

Regards,
Cupsay.
