Is Excel a "true analytics platform"

I've been developing sophisticated applications with Excel for over 30 years in various markets, including healthcare. I just a blog post that compares Excel to what the writer calls a "true analytics program." His comparison expressed both favorable and unfavorable views.

I'm interested to hear what members of this forum think about his blog post.
