IRC Chat Room?

I was pondering today - we get a lot of little questions that can be answered in a split second such as "How do I nest this if statement". Would it possibly be beneficial to start up an IRC chat room where people can come in, ask a question, and if it is something that requires a more detailed explanation to direct them to post on the forums? Or even use the chat so we can converse amongst ourselves about potential solutions and collaborate live rather than post-by-post.
 
having been part of many good sites that offer chat rooms - i'd say it wouldn't work as you want it to. There would be lots of bad conversation. Plus, it would require multiple moderators - and since everyone here is a volunteer as it is..
Nice idea - not worth the headache
