I made a new topic for this because the problem appears to me to be separate from the original problem.
See the
original/reference post for additional details if needed.

I have a set of data.
I am using a COUNTIF function on a column.
Everything appeared to work fine. However, I ran a SUM routine to make sure that all the data was being captured.
I noticed that there are a few cells that are not being accounted for in the calculation.

I looked into some of the cells and discovered that A16 is not being counted in the equation.
Although the entire column A1:A500 is being counted, cell A16 (and a few others somewhere) is being skipped over.
Very odd. I have cleared contents, deleted the cell, inserted a blank cell, and checked formatting.

It is as if cell A16 is invisible in the COUNTIF function.

How do I go about finding this error and locating the rest of these 'ghost' cells?

Thanks in advance!

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Do you have any merged cells?

I really wish the OP had not started this new thread as it seems that one has to reference the other thread in order to know what the OP is talking about. In addition, the OP posted this question in the original thread and I gave the following response there...
I would be willing to bet that cell A16 has a space character at the end of the text. You can test this out with this formula...

=LEN(A16)

and see if the value returns is greater than 6.
Your thought about merged cells is also a good one though.
