Can Access interface with other programs? For example if I put information in one field in Access can it automatically populate in another location in the other program like Word, Excel Wordperfect?

Thanks

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
Can you explain further what you mean?

Both Word/Excel can get data from Access.

In Excel you would use Data>Get External Data...

In Word you would, probably, use the Access database as a source for a MailMerge.

I would like it to automatically export to Excel without having to update it manually. And I only want certain fields data to be sent.
I also use Quark Express and would like data to go to it too, is that possible?

Look up Automation in help. Access can run Xl by remote control and add data to it, if you try doing this on a field by field basis I imagine things could get a bit slow!

whether Quark Express will let you poke data in depends on wether it will act as an Automation object you will have to check it's help to find out.

If you use this method you can import whatever fields/queries/tables you want.

You can also set properties/options that will refresh the data whenever the Excel file is opened.

For a more dynamic update you can set it to refresh every X minutes.
