k well i know how to insert bitmap images into the access form through OLE objects but bitmap are too large and are generally rubbish , any way of insterting gif's or jpg's into a product description for example?

Hi,

I'm not sure if I understand the problem 100% but you can add a jpg or any other type of picture to a record (such as a product) in the table design, add a new field (pic) of type OLE, when inserting the picture (right click, insert object), select "Create from file" and the browse your way to the picture you want -> Ok. I tested this with jpg & gif pictures and they worked fine.
