Insert cell value in a text string

Any one know how I insert the cell value on cell A1 into a text string in cell B100. For example, the text in cell B100 can say "the height of the man is x" and x would be whatever value was entered in cell A1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Following on from the previous question.

Is it possible to format the cell so that the number comes out a certain way?

I want a chart to show text and value in the legend, which I know how to do however the cell reference (numberical data is unformatted).

example: ="Basic Average "&"£"& D3

Instead of this outcome "Basic Average £1234" I would like "Basic Average £1,234"
Can I make the numerical value have a comma etc???
