Hello,

I am attempting to return a cells value by looking up a specific name (identified in C6) located somewhere in row 2 and a date (identified in C4) located somewhere in column B. I tried the shift control enter to confirm my formula per another post, however I still receive the same error Value in formula is wrong data type.

=INDEX('Audit Calendar2'!D3:R32, MATCH(C6,'Audit Calendar'!B4:B18,0), MATCH(C4,'Audit Calendar'!2:2,0),FALSE)

Excel Facts

Copy a format multiple times
Select a formatted range. Double-click the Format Painter (left side of Home tab). You can paste formatting multiple times. Esc to stop
Can you post some sample data.

MrExcel has a tool called “XL2BB” that lets you post samples of your data that will allow us to copy/paste it to our Excel spreadsheets, so we can work with the same copy of data that you are. Instructions on using this tool can be found here: XL2BB Add-in

Note that there is also a "Test Here” forum on this board. This is a place where you can test using this tool (or any other posting techniques that you want to test) before trying to use those tools in your actual posts.

Fluff, While compiling the data in a sheet I could share, It corrected itself... I honestly do not know why it works now, but it does.
