Index Match help

Hi!

I have a formula (below) that is working when I use the exact term I want to look up (DEN C) but I would like to look up anything that starts with DEN. There should be three possible options, DEN S, DEN C, and DEN F.

{=INDEX(E:E,MATCH(1,(Withholdings!A:A=Data!A2)*(Withholdings!F:F="DEN C"),0))}

Suggestions would be extremely welcome.

Have you tried using the "Left" function?

It would help if you would post a small sample of your data, but maybe:

[TD="width: 728"]=INDEX(E:E,MATCH(1,(Withholdings!A:A=Data!A2)*ISNUMBER(SEARCH("DEN"&" ?",Withholdings!F:F)),0))[/TD]
[/TR]
</tbody>[/TABLE]

There is only one space between " ?"

AhoyNC - I have only sampled a small test group but that has completely solved my problem
