INDEX/MATCH formula? how to check for new items

This is kind of tough to explain..

I have a list of 35 colors I maintain in File_1.
Every month I check it against File_2.
I check to see if there are any new colors in File_2 that don't already exist in my current list of 35 in File_1.

Is there a formula I can create in File_1 that would tell me if there is a new color appearing in File_2 that doesn't already exist in my list in File_1?

Hope that was clear.

Essentially I'd like to know if a file I get once a month has a new item suddenly appearing in a particular column. I would have no way of knowing unless I did a vlookup in File_2, but that isn't effective for my situation...
