increment number by 1

Hi , I want to increment number by 1. Actually I have two fields in there. One is called "currentdate" and other one is "txtnumber". now i want to increment number by 1. like today if I enter record, then it should start from 1 and so on. and then next day, it should start again from 1 and so on. please help me with this. I want to put codes on before update event of form.
