I have created a stacked bar chart to display how many widgets were produced each day of May. So, the segments of the stacked bar are the production totals for May 1, May 2, May 3, etc. Currently, I am displaying that value in the segment of the bar chart. I would also like to display the field "name" (May 1, etc.).

For example, (picture a bar around these numbers

Current:

6,829
326
621
524
582

Desired:
Retail Balance: 6,829
May 4: 326
May 3: 621
May 2: 524
May 1: 582

My data set looks like this:

Column A............Column B
Retail Balance:.....6,829
May 4:................326
May 3:................621
May 2:................524
May 1:................582

In Column C you can construct custom data labels. So in C2 for instance, enter this formula:

=A2&" "&B2

Now use one of these free Excel addins to apply the labels:

Rob Bovey's Chart Labeler, http://appspro.com
John Walkenbach's Chart Tools, http://j-walk.com

These allow you to specify a range of cells, and have the contents of these cells used as data labels for a chart series. You can do it manually, of course, but after the third data label it gets tedious.
