I am importing staff data on a monthly basis fromExcel to an existing Access table. The importing is fine and any new records are appended.

What I need to do is update the data already in Access to reflect any changes to the staff members details e.g. location, each member of staff has a unique identifier.

What appears to happen at the moment is that if the identifier already exists the latest record with any changes is ignored, whereas if a new identifer is on the imported spreadsheet it is included in the table.

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
If you import to a temporary table then you could run an update query from it to your main table as well as append.
