Hi

Please can anyone help?

I have some data in a excel spreadsheet. I have imported the data once into a new table, when I try to import the same data again into the new table I created before why does it tell me there is a error and it can not import? It is exactly the same data with column headings!

Excel Facts

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce
What error are you getting?

Are there any primary keys?

How are you trying to import?

The message is "An error occurred trying to import 'file name' the file was not imported"

There are no primary keys

I am going to file , get external data, import.

Are any of the settings for the fields being violated when you import the second time?

Eg duplicates are created in a field where duplicates aren't allowed.

No I have not touched any of the settings on the table and just checked and there are no field settings set up.

Let me get this right.

1 You created a table and imported data into it from Excel.

2 You then try to import the data again into the table but it errors?

Yes thats it. I have just tried it in 97 and it works fine but on 2002 it just won't work!
