Excel Facts

When did Power Query debut in Excel?
Although it was an add-in in Excel 2010 & Excel 2013, Power Query became a part of Excel in 2016, in Data, Get & Transform Data.
Did you go through all the steps?

What was different between the preview and the end result?

what do you mean all the steps ? was I supposed to go thru each field and assign properties? the preview looked like it would work but when I clicked finish the data in field1 was partially in field2 and so on.

Not sure what caused the problem, but if it has a .csv extension you can open it directly in Excel, check that it's OK and save as an .xls file. Then you can import that into Access -- once you've checked that there aren't any blank rows at the top and the format looks OK. In Excel, set the formats for all of the columns and save. Then import that file, and you should be set.
