Anyone know if DAT files can be imported into Access and how.

Is there an option whereby it is possible to nominate a number of header rows to exclude from an import. Simiilarly can a number of trailer records be flagged for exclusion.

Thanks,

Alan

Access supports a range of import formats but my reference didn't say anything about DAT. One (crude but often effective) method is ot restore the database so you can see the desktop, make sure the Tables section of the database is selected, and drag the DAT icon onto the database. If Access turns that into something approaching what you want, it's not a bad start.
You can also try File | Get External Data | Import and see whether Access will recognise the DAT file that way.
As for removing junk head and tail records, you may need to try something different -- like importing the DAT file into Excel, saving it as a CSV, and putting that into Access.
