implementation of NORM.INV

Hi, could anybody please advise on the background calculation used to implement the NORM.INV function in Excel?

I need to hand code it in Java. I have managed to convert some other statistical functions this way but am finding it hard to get info on this one.
I have done some searching but get into a lot of confusing higher maths type pages that leave me unclear as to if I am actually looking at the right equations!

I was just looking for a breakdown of the calculation steps, or a link to any useful reference.
