Basically I'm looking for a cell to fill in another cell if another cell is highlighted.

My issue is:
"If a cell in G column is highlighted then take the text from in cell J (of the same row) and copy it over to cell d"

Warranted column A and column G have a conditional formatting whereas if the text in column A is the same as column G then they are both highlighted.

Also: is there an issue on this site it seems to not take every 4th keystroke? Or is it just me?

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.

I think it is just you. It may be the browser or editor you are using.

Note that Excel formulas can only run off of values, they cannot look at the formatting of other cells (VBA can, Excel cannot).
However, if your cells are being highlighted via Conditional Formatting, you may be able to use the same rules that you used for Conditional Formatting in your formula.
If you need help with that, please provide your Conditional Formatting details.

Thank you for your response.

Basically my conditional formatting is set to duplicate values, wheres it turn cells in column A and column G red if there is text in either column that match text in the other.

So, are you using a formula in Conditional Formatting to do that?
You should be able to incorporate that same logic into this other formula that you need.
If you need further help with that, please post the Conditional Formatting formula you are using.
