need help with lookup.....

basically i need forumla which says

IF cell A2= Clinical, look at range X
IF cell A2=Non Clinical, look at Range Y

Is there always going to be Clinical or Non Clinical in the A range?

If so,

=IF(A2="Clinical",vlookup(A2,[x],#,0),vlookup(A2,[y],#,0))

yes, i've validated the cell options are clinical or non clinical

In the above formula you need to specify what x and y are (the table where you are looking up A2) and you need to specify which column you want to return data from the table you designate x and y).

This formula looks up range x if A2=Clinical, and range y if A2=Non Clinical

What do you want range x and range y to be?

Perhaps if you explained what x and y are, and what you want returned when A=Clinical or non Clinical i could help you better.
