First time posting!
Hope this makes sense. I have a big spreadsheet of fundraising codes that I am trying to update to their new versions, dependent on what a value says in an adjacent column.
As an example, if a code is currently EXET-EXGN-14, and the code next to it is EXET-00-CASH, if it has "00" in that middle section, I want to enter into a cell, EXET-EXGB-14 from a table in the next workbook. If the middle section has "01", I want it to add EXET-EXGM-14 instead.
Basically, I have 3 replacement codes for EXET-EXGN-14 that I need to add to a call dependant upon what middle number is shown in an adjacent cell.
I feel like this would be a complicated type of IF/THEN formula, but I can't quite get there. Does something like this sound possible? If not, could it be a macro or VBA thing, and if so, who could I talk to that's an expert in that sort of thing? I know this is a big first post, but this would save weeks or work for charity workers across the US, so I'm really trying to explore all options.
Thanks!!
Alex
