Hi everyone,

does anyone have any examples where IF, Ceiling and MAX are used in one formula?

I have been asked by one of my users about this. I do not have any data to apply this to, I just wanted to check if it is 'do-able'

Many thanks

L

Excel Facts

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
Yes, here you go.

=CEILING(3,MAX(IF(A1=1,3,6),10))

Of course, this is complete nonsense since I just typed in some random numbers and don't have any application whatsoever to apply this to.
It simply is an example of an IF a CEILING and a MAX used in one formula
Yet it does answer your question.

You need to get the user to explain what they are trying to achieve.
Then apply appropriate formulas and if possible combine them.

Maybe this could be a practical example!

Assuming a company offers transportation to its employees and it has only 4 seater cabs in its fleet! A combination of IF, Ceiling and Max could be used to find out the maximum of cars required in a particular data range, depending on the roster of the employees within that date range.

Hi,

thank you for that - I appreciate it is difficult without physical data - I just wanted to check it was possible

Thanks again
