I used a " " in a formula to return no value and there is a value being picked up by another formula

I am linking two files in a formula. In that formula I am using " " as the value to return if the value in the source cell is either a 0 or an error. If there is no value in the source cell that I am linking up it should return a blank space.

In my destination file I am using a vlookup to that cell to evaluate if it is greater than 0. It is giving me a "True" result when it should be "False" if there is no value there. It gives me a "False" when I physically deleted the contents of that cell. I have also tried a copy\paste special\value on the cell and I get the same results even after deleting the contents of that cell.

Thank you,

Wildcard in VLOOKUP
Use =VLOOKUP("Apple*" to find apple, Apple, or applesauce

Hi,

You're using a Space, not a Blank change " " to ""

I tried that and it didn't work. I ended up deleting the evaluation of cell reference=0 in the IF and OR statements to only evaluate if there is an error in that cell. If there is, then it would return " " otherwise it is returning the actual cell value. It is working now. Thank you for the help!

I don't see your data, and I don't see your formula, not necessary...

If you use a SPACE ( " " ) for a formula result, SPACE is treated as a TEXT character, Not a formula Blank ( "" ), it Will create all kinds of problems down the road, use "" instead of " ", just FYI.
