There is a scripture that says: Ask and it shall be given you, Seek and ye shall find, Knock and and it shall be opened unto you... Matt. 7:7 For all those who espouse to spiritual things I know you will appreciate this passage of scripture. I am asking the following:

Lets say that I have a series of numbers (ex. 40,11,18,29,22,8, etc.)
Lets say I assign to each of these numbers a letter designation (H for Hot Number, or C for Cold Number)
Now lets say that I want to create a program that will tell me the different combinations that I can get for a number when I select a particular pattern for that number. For example, lets say that for the number I select I choose a pattern and I want to know all the different combinations for that number that meet that patterns' criterion:

Examples:
H C H H H H
7 11 14 15 17 19
7 11 15 17 19 23
7 11 17 19 23 27, etc.

What I want to do is use the first number (7, which is a hot number) to determine how many combinations I will get from that number when using all the numbers below that are designated as hot (H) or cold (C) numbers.

HOT NUMBERS:
7,8,10,2,32,1,17,27,9,15,19,36,43,23,14

COLD NUMBERS:
39,40,18,29,38,11,12,3,21,42,6,5,20,22,,13,34,41,16,35,33,44,37,4,30,26,25,28,31,42

The following are the patterns that will be used with these numbers, when a hot number is selected first:

HCHHHH HCCHHH HHCHHH HHHHHH
HCHCHC HCCCHC HHCCHC HHHCHC
HCHHCC HCCHCC HHCHCC HHHHCC
HCHCCH HCCCCH HHCCCH HHHCCH
HCHCHH HCCCHH HHCCHH HHHCHH
HCHHCH HCCHCH HHCHCH HHHHCH
HCHHHC HCCHHC HHCHHC HHHHHC
HCHCCC HCCCCC HHCCCC HHHCCC

The following are the patterns that will be used with these numbers, when a cold number is selected first:

CHCCCC CHHCCC CCHCCC CCCCCC
CHCCHC CHHCHC CCHCHC CCCCHC
CHCHCC CHHHCC CCHHCC CCCHCC
CHCCCH CHHCCH CCHCCH CCCCCH
CHCCHH CHHCHH CCHCHH CCCCHH
CHCHCH CHHHCH CCHHCH CCCHCH
CHCHHC CHHHHC CCHHHC CCCHHC
CHCHHH CHHHHH CCHHHH CCCHHH

Thank you for your time and help with this.

You are trolling this board with your repeated posts in such a short time frame.

Variations of this problem have been asked and answered here and in the newsgroups. Have you put any effort into finding these solutions and adapting them to your needs?

Jaime, I notice that you've been asking the same question since the 7th.
If you want to move your question to the top of the stack, just post a comment to it. DO NOT repeatedly post the same question - as you've noticed, it will not get you the type of attention you desire. Also, if you really want help from this board, it would be good if you *responded* to the posts people have made in your threads - see http://www.mrexcel.com/board2/viewtopic.php?t=177968

Note: I've locked the older question and sent traffic here because this post is more detailed.

Jaime,

Your examples suggest that each matching sequence must be in increasing order from left to right. Is this true in general?
