I have about a hundred index match formulas in a column.

I needed to insert a new line in the data dump where they were pulling from but i didnt want these formulas to change for a specific reason.

In order to do that I replaced all the equal signs with a # sign. Then changed the data dump and then came back and replaced # with =.

Now the problem is that my formulas arent loading! Reason being that before all the equal signs I'm now seeing an apostrophe. Why on earth did this happen and how do I fix it?

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Highlight the whole column and set the Format to General.
Then do a Text to Columns on the column.
If you see the apostrophe in the Wizard, select the Fixed Width option, and put the break after the apostrophe, and elect not to import the first field.

Thanks!

For some reason the apostrophe doesnt appear in the delimited. Weird.

Ultimately its not a big deal. I've fixed it now. But if there's any advice for future reference, that'd be great!

I didn't expect that it would, from past experience.
The Text to Columns method usually fixes it.

Oh OK. But then how do you put the break after the apostrophe, if you dont see the apostrophe?

You don't need to insert any break. Just click Finish. It is the equivalent to re-enter all the values in your column (like if you went into a cell, pressed F2, then enter).
