I've just learned about Solver add-in today. This will be awesome if I can get it to work! Sadly I haven't yet.

I want to find which numbers out of a list add up to a total I'm looking for. So I might have a total of 5 and I want to know which numbers out of the list 1,2,3 add up to that, and I'd want Solver to tell me that adding 2 and 3 will give me that result.

So I tried it and it worked. Then I tried it again on a different list and it didn't. I suspect the reason is because of the decimals? Not sure but that's my guess. However this is of no help if I can't use decimals.

I'll paste the data and the error messages in screenshots below.

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
i cant figure out how to edit my previous message. is that possible?

anyway so - i kinda figured it out. it wasn't a problem with decimals, i was using the wrong range for the constraints. so that's solved. but i'm finding the program a bit clumsy the way it operates and i wonder if this is my mistake or something else. when i try to set the constraints of the middle column, >=0 is fine, <=1 is fine, but setting to an integer often doesn't work. would anyone know why this is?
