Before I start down the path of doing research, can the Hyperlink function in Access take you to a folder on the companies server or is this just hyperlinks for Websites?

Excel Facts

Create a chart in one keystroke
Select the data and press Alt+F1 to insert a default chart. You can change the default chart to any chart type
glad you got your answer ... however, instead of make the data type hyperlink, consider using Short Text and set Size to 255 (allows longer paths than hyperlink data type) -- then, on a form, you can open the link using code:

dim sPathFile as string
sPathFile = "set the value" '------------------customize

Code:
Application.FollowHyperlink sPathFile 'sPathFile can be a folder or Path\File -- it can get its value from a control on the form
