hi,
so i'd like to include a hyperlink in my file that will take you to a folder.

the url is this "\shared folder\08-Aug\main folder"

i have the date in cell A1 as "Aug 2019"

is there a way i can make a formula that will factor in what the date in cell A1 says? Meaning it extracts the "mm-mmm" to complete the url?

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
1. Is "Aug 2019" text or a PROPER Excel date?

2. What does the "08" signify in your URL, ie "08-Aug"? It looks like the date 8th Aug - or does the "08" signify the month number of the year, or something else? If it's the date 8th Aug where is that in your spreadsheet, how will Excel know you mean 8th August?

weird, i guess i didn't hit submit when i replied or something.

anyway, sorry for the delay:

1. Proper Excel date. it is custom format: "mmm yyyy"
2. "08" signifies "mm". so the folder itself would be "mm-mmm"

hope that was helpful
