Happy New Year's everyone,

I want to hyperlink a word or a sentence to a folder. How is this done?
I looked in searches and could not find what I was looking for.
Also, If I move the hyperlinked folder, do I need to update the hyperlink manually?

Thank you and God Bless,
Craig

The following refers to Excel 2007 but creating a hyperlink is identical in all versions of Excel :

Creating a Hyperlink to a Folder

  1. Select the Cell: Click the cell where you want to add the hyperlink. Enter the text (e.g., a word or sentence) you want to hyperlink.
  2. Insert Hyperlink:
    • Right-click the cell and choose Hyperlink, or press Ctrl + K.
  3. Browse for the Folder:
    • In the Insert Hyperlink dialog box, click Existing File or Web Page on the left side.
    • Navigate to the folder you want to link to using the explorer window.
    • Click the folder to select it and press OK.
  4. Display Text:
    • In the Text to Display field, ensure the text matches the word or sentence you want hyperlinked.
  5. Finish:
    • Click OK to insert the hyperlink.

Notes:

  • When you click the hyperlink, the linked folder will open in File Explorer.

If the Hyperlinked Folder is Moved

  • If you move the folder, the hyperlink will no longer work because it points to the original location.
  • To update the hyperlink:
    1. Right-click the hyperlink.
    2. Choose Edit Hyperlink.
    3. Update the folder path in the Address field and click OK.
