Hyperlink is stalling

I am using Excel 2010 and Window's 7 Enterprise. When I click on a hyperlink in a worksheet that is linked to another spreadsheet file all I get is the little circle that just spins and does not go to the assigned file. I have dozens of links on dozens of worksheets of which none are now working and doing the same thing but once did work.
