I am using the HYPERLINK function to open a website that is held in another cell.

=HYPERLINK(AE4,AC4)

Cell AE4 is the website, e.g. U.S. Preferred ETF
AC4 is holding the Friendly Name

I am getting an error massage that says - Unable to open WEBSITE. Cannot locate the Internet server or proxy server.

I can't seem to find any solution for this which is a little frustrating for something so simple and fundamental to Excel.

TIA

It tries to open the link but it comes up with the error message.

I can see you're on a Mac platform which could mean settings on the Windows platform would be different.

maybe
But can you open the webpage , if put directly into a browser ?
what browser is set as default
Windows version - also worth adding to profile

your not getting a link error , more of an internet DHCP error , not able to locate the server / proxy server

maybe a windows firewall prevent access

I'm not sure Excel uses as the default browser now - I know on older version it used IE and I think on 365 on windows 10 - last time i used it - it used Edge
But not 100% certain on that
