Is there a good way of visualising how a number of different currencies (GBP, EUR, USD in the first instance) perform relative to one another in a single chart/visualisation? I can easily call up charts for each currency pair (GBP vs USD, GBP vs EUR, EUR vs USD), showing historical exchange rates, but can't think how you would visualise three currencies (or three currency pairs if you prefer) in a single chart. A surface chart or bubble chart of some kind maybe? Any ideas? Many thanks!

Show numbers in thousands?
Use a custom number format of #,##0,K. Each comma after the final 0 will divide the displayed number by another thousand
I think so @MrExcel in his recent youtube posts mentioned a very effective solution that has/is coming to excel 365 - Charts based on Filtered array.

This means - assuming you want to compare GBP to USD on various exchanges
  • Just add all those exchange currencies to your master list
  • Then create a filter list that has only GBP to USD values
  • Now you see them at a glance or populate a chart based on that filtered array.
Hope it helps you in some way.

Many thanks Sanjay, but I don't understand how your suggestion achieves what I'm asking about, unless I'm missing something? As I understand it your solution would still end up showing a simple chart showing the exchange rate between two currencies, whereas what I would like to do is to show three currencies in relation to one another. 🤔
