How to scan a column and move adjacent date next to search cell?

How can I search column A with values in cells of column D and put the adjacent date in column B into column E. I apologise for the data paste but windows removed XL2BB and I cannot get it working again. too many problems all at once. I thought I could use lookup but that only appears to run on sorted data which seems pretty limiting.
