friends,

I have created a macro in an Excel file and saved it as <code style="margin: 0px; padding: 1px 5px; border: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; font-family: Consolas, Menlo, Monaco, 'Lucida Console', 'Liberation Mono', 'DejaVu Sans Mono', 'Bitstream Vera Sans Mono', 'Courier New', monospace, serif; white-space: pre-wrap; background: rgb(238, 238, 238);">XLSM</code> file. Now I need to open it in a system which is not having MS office.

What are alternative options to open and run the <code style="margin: 0px; padding: 1px 5px; border: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; font-family: Consolas, Menlo, Monaco, 'Lucida Console', 'Liberation Mono', 'DejaVu Sans Mono', 'Bitstream Vera Sans Mono', 'Courier New', monospace, serif; white-space: pre-wrap; background: rgb(238, 238, 238);">XLSM</code> file without Microsoft Excel? I have installed Open Office but while opening the XLSM file, it is just showing loading...loading....loading.... How can I open the <code style="margin: 0px; padding: 1px 5px; border: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; font-family: Consolas, Menlo, Monaco, 'Lucida Console', 'Liberation Mono', 'DejaVu Sans Mono', 'Bitstream Vera Sans Mono', 'Courier New', monospace, serif; white-space: pre-wrap; background: rgb(238, 238, 238);">XLSM</code> file with Open Office or with any other free softwares which can run an <code style="margin: 0px; padding: 1px 5px; border: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; font-family: Consolas, Menlo, Monaco, 'Lucida Console', 'Liberation Mono', 'DejaVu Sans Mono', 'Bitstream Vera Sans Mono', 'Courier New', monospace, serif; white-space: pre-wrap; background: rgb(238, 238, 238);">XLSM</code> file?

Excel to OpenOffice
. I tried to do this some time back when I was still pondering whether either to use OpenOfffice and Microsoft Office or just Microsoft Office. (I was happy to pay for Microsoft Software, (someone must!), but also wanted to be as flexible as possible). It was a nasty jungle of getting compatible versions. Usually I was able to come up with a combination of different Excel and Open Office versions that worked. But even then I occaisionally had compatibility problems.

Excel VBA toOpenOffice
. It was only in recent years I think that the free software clan (OpenOffice / Libre Office), went over from normal Basic Programming to Object Orientated Programming.
I belive there coding is somewhat differnt still. So you may not yet have a free software that will have code compatible with a Microsoft Office version. But I would welcome any new info on that one.

. At the end of the day I think you will find that the odds are against you: The free software people try to keep up with new Microsoft versions, but for obvious reasns i think Microsoft try there best to make that difficult! At least that is the conclusion I came to.
