how to retrieve only alphabet from a string of text

Hi there,

Example if i have a column data with this string "104E" or 12E33", how can i only retrieve only the alphabet ?

Alphabet=mid([column].........)

The second post on in the following thread has a VBA function that may do what you need. It has a switch that will allow you to either return all numbers or all alphabet characters.

In order to retrieve the single occurrence letter from a string...

Control+shift+enter, not just enter:

=IFERROR(CHAR(LOOKUP(9.99999999999999E+307,MATCH(ROW($65:$90),
   CODE(MID(UPPER(A1),ROW(INDIRECT("1:"&LEN(A1))),1)),0),ROW($65:$90))),"")
