Hi guys,

I am trying to make a dynamic chart (line graph) that updates to include additional columns as they are added. I have found tutorials on how to make a dynamic chart that updates each time data is added under the same headers, but can't figure out how to make one that updates to include new columns. Any advice?

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
If you have a chart that graphs data in range a2:J4 and you used the chart wizard to crate your chart, to add a column just change your range value to a2:k4, the wizard will automatically add the column. What it does is extend the data series of each of the three ranges. You can do it by selecting the range and using the wizard or by selecting the range and creating the chart through VBA, it still works the same way. To add a column, increase the range.

JLGWhiz,

Thanks for the reply, I'm not sure if my question was clear... Is there any way to do it without manually increasing the range? For example, if you do a dynamic chart then it will automatically update when you add more data underneath a column header. Is there a way to make the range auto-update when more columns are added?

You would probably have to do it with code using an If...Then Statement to add to the data series.

Oh okay,

That would probably work. Right now I am just selecting a large range and hiding the cells that don't have data...

Thank you for the help. I will try that.
