i would like to add a drop-down box (similar to the built in filter drop-down) capable of selecting a value or multiple values in cell U2, then if V2:DE2 = the selected value(s), then hide/unhide that column(s) based on what is selected or not in the drop-down.

can this be done?

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
