I'm using Microsoft Excel 2010. It allows me to freeze the panes but it only permits either the left pane or the top pane. How do I freeze both the left-sided pane as well as the top pane?
Thank you for any inputs

Excel Facts

Excel Can Read to You
Customize Quick Access Toolbar. From All Commands, add Speak Cells or Speak Cells on Enter to QAT. Select cells. Press Speak Cells.
I have it freeze both areas. You have to select a cell that is just below the last row that you want frozen and just to the right of the last column to be frozen. Example, if you want Column A to be frozen, and Rows 1 - 6, then you you select Cell B7.

If you have panes currently frozen on the worksheet, unfreeze it first (I.e., Goto Home on the Ribbon Bar, then View, then Freeze Panes, then Unfreeze Panes (First Option))

You then freeze panes with you having selected Cell B7 by going to Home (Ribbon Bar), View, Freeze Panes, Freeze Panes (1st option of the 3 showing)

Select the first cell that you want to be able to be moved, then select the View tab and click the Freeze Panes button and click the first item (Freeze Panes) on the drop down that appears (everything above and to the left of that cell will be frozen).

Here is how you do it:
1. Click anywhere you want on your sheet
2. Click on split right next to Freeze panes
3. Now drag the big cross to where you want the split
4. When you have the split where you want it.
5. Choose Freeze Panes
