Hi,

Can I have my dates in the dCalendar table in "dd/mmm/yyyy" format instead of "dd/mmm/yyyy hh:mm:ss" ?

When I create my dCalendar I always tempted to follow "dd/mmm/yyyy" separating times.
I usually maintain a separate table for times as it gives the flexibility to run the Hour , Minute, Second functions to get hours, minutes, seconds which I feel you can't get the same if you include your dates with times.

Am I correct in my opinion? Is it a good practice? Will this effect my PowerPivot analysis in any way?

Thank

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
The number of times I have left my date and time together is ... near zero. It is almost always better to have them separate. Possibly ALWAYS better. In many cases... required. Just do it :)

It is always best to separate date and time because
1. It compresses better. Also don't bring in seconds if you don't need them.
2. You can't join a date field in a data table to a date/time field in a calendar table.
