Hello All,

Could someone please help me on how to find average peak hour for a week's data that is available. We cannot take the usual average by adding all the 7 data and divide it by 7 since that may not result in the appropriate result. So is there anyway to find the average without actually averaging. Sample data is as given below.

Peak Hour( 24 hour)Date
121/3/16
151/4/16
41/5/16
111/6/16
231/7/16
211/8/16
191/9/16

</tbody>

When we take an average of the above peak hour data, we find that 15 is the average, which may not be true as 15th hour may not be the busiest hour on all 7 days. Please help. Thanks in Advance.

Excel Facts

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
I think you will need to put a range of data for each day to get anything better than you have already.
If you are only inputting 1 hour perday to redefine the peak for that day.....your average will be based simply on that input.

Ok, you have input 7 entries giving the peak of each day
The average must be the sum divided by the number of entries.......because that's all the information you have !!
What would you imagine the average of those days would be, if not 15 ???
Maybe you need to be looking at Bell Curves and other graphs to decide your Peak.
But I would imagine you would need to be inputting ALL individual 24 hrs of data for each day and breaking it down from there !!
You might also need to remove Saturdays and Sundays...depending on the type of resource you are studying
AND maybe also reduce your data range to say, between the hours of 9 to 9, for instance.
But with the data provided it'll always be 15 !!
