Hi There,

I need to find out the last date a cell was modified from an existing data sheet. User would be a bonus, but date would suffice.
What is the best way to do this please?

We have a sheet at work which various people use and update. I missed a date an entry on this, which I believe has been updated after I checked, so would like to prove.

Many thanks in advance.

Excel Facts

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
What you would need to do is create a macro that runs in the Worksheet Change event and checks which cell has been changed and it being the target cell records into a cell on a different sheet or other workbook the date and username of who changed it.

You might want to limit that list to say the last 100 changes but that would be up to you.

Excel doesn't have a way to tell when a cell was last changed - Unless you want to create a shared workbook and set up change tracking but from all accounts that brings more trouble than it's worth.

Thanks Stiuart, used previous versions.
Sometimes the solution is simpler than expected!!
