how to display monthly sales data with filter relative date

Hi, i have daily sales data for a few years. I would like to display the recent 12 months data.
but it shows all the data in daily mode like this.

how can i display the pillars by monthly data like this, but the monthly data in the last 12 months?

Excel Facts

Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
I'm not sure what method of presentation you're using there but assuming you're using power BI.

This is related to my workflow in Power Pivot but should be similar for Power BI.

I've been adding a column in Power Query tat sets a flag if the date is within a certain period. Usually the last financial year. In your case you could make the calculated column set a flag for the last calender year.
You can also extra the date as just the month number in PQ.
Or you can do the same in the Power pivot table and calculate the column there, usually when i'm making a Pivot Excel splits up the dates automatically for me in this way via the Power Pivot table.

Then you filter your dataset by that flag and display it by month. Rolling calendar year of data, up to date.
