How to create link to open an external file at a given tab/cell position?

I'm trying to set a link in an Excel file, to open a different file, and place the cursor in a specific cell on a given tab.

I have been unable to find anything online to show this, and I've exhausted my trial-and-error patience.

Expected:
=HYPERLINK("\\server\folder\file.xls]tabname!$A$3000", "Link to A3000 on tabname in file")

But it just won't work...

EDIT - I mis-typed the ']' above... I have tried with/without brackets, single-quotes, double-quotes and many other things; the above would be a simple error, but while I can open the file, I can't get the cursor to go to the right tab/cell.

My post above covers the primary answer, and the 2nd one is similar.
Neither works for me - the file opens, but the cursor does not go anywhere (other than where it was previously saved).

Is it possible that it's because the file is over a corporate network? Or that I need write-permission for that file?
It's not a big problem, but once I can't "do" something in Excel, I feel a need to figure out how to! :)
