Hello

I have a sheet that contains a column of data running from B9 to B31 inclusive. Some cells are blanked out using the colours ‘black’, ‘yellow’ and ‘blue/purple’. The remainder of the cells are blank (clear). The number of blanked out cells can vary from time to time and may occur at any point within the column. What I need is a formula to count the number of blank cells. If at all possible, would it be possible to do this in Excel without having to use VBA?

If this can’t be done within Excel, what kind of VBA code would it take to accomplish this task?

As a side point, if I need to count the number of each coloured cell, is there a formula in Excel to do this?

I am fairly new to Excel, so any help you may be able to offer sure will be appreciated. Thank you.

Excel Facts

Spell Check in Excel
Press F7 to start spell check in Excel. Be careful, by default, Excel does not check Capitalized Werds (whoops)
Excel formulas can only run on values, not formatting (like cell colors). That will require VBA or an Add-In.
See the following link for VBA and Add-In options: https://www.extendoffice.com/documents/excel/1155-excel-count-sum-cells-by-color.html
