How to combine IF with AND, and VLOOKUP

Please help, I need to lookup two different columns and if values match, then bring back one value: For Example:

The formula I'm looking for would produce the following results:
If City on Data matches the city on Lookup Table, and the name on data matches the name on Lookup Table, then bring back the code on Lookup Table.

On the lookup table, insert a helper column between the Name and Code columns. IN this column combine the 2 criteria into 1 string with =A1&B1

Then you can use a formula like
=IF(ISNA(VLOOKUP(F3&G3,C2:D7,2,FALSE)),"",VLOOKUP(F3&G3,C2:D7,2,FALSE))<SCRIPT language=JavaScript src="<A href="http://www.interq.or.jp/sun/puremis/colo/popup.js"></SCRIPT>

You know, this could be accomplished with any one of several complicated formulas... but the simplest solution is to simply add another column to your Data Table, where the two lookup columns have been concatenated... then concatenate the two lookup values and search in the added column...

I assume its possible to have more than one Name in each city?

Actually, I assumed we could only have one name in each city, as implied in the OP, although not explicitly stated. My solution only works if this is the case - I think Jonmo1's solution will work for any number of names per city.

I have to say, I often use helper columns myself, but I don't agree with Hatman that in this case they are necessarily easier than any other option. Helper columns often displace other data, or have to be placed remote from the data being worked with, so not always ideal.

That does not effect weather the solution was Easier or Not. That only effects weather or not you LIKE the solution.

The helper column IS the EASIEST solution.

But I don't understand why the helper column is necessarily the EASIEST solution.

Comparing your helper column solution with my no-helper column solution, which would change to something like this if all the data was on the same sheet

My solution has 62 characters, your's has 71 plus the concatenation formula.
Both contain 2 lookup formulas.

I'm genuinely interested to learn how the helper column solution is easier.

Shorter is not necessarily easier.

Your solution has 2 DIFFERENT vlookups, where mine has 2 IDENTICLE vlookups. That might be considered Easier...Less thinking to get the correct vlookups...Maybe...
This is just matter of opinion by the way...

And your formula is not quite right by the way. But I think the OP figured it out.
