I am having trouble inserting a power view report in my excel. I need to know how to first insert a power view report for a specific group of data, and second how to edit the data fields for my desired data group. I managed to add the power view button to my ribbon, however, it is not activated; please help me.

Welcome to the Board!

You should have been prompted to enable the Data Analysis add-ins when you added Power View to the Ribbon. Try File > Options > Add-ins > Manage Add-ins > Com Add-ins > Check Power View.

Note that Power View has been deprecated in favor of Power BI.
