How does subtotal formula updates automatically with insertion of new rows?

I have subtotal formulas at different rows of columns I. That is at I15 (I9:I14), I18(I16:17), I32(I19:I31). when I insert a new row, the formula at I15 updated to accommodate the new cell however the formulas in I18 an I32 resist t change for any new insertion between the range and the formula. Calculation option is set to automatic and the cells are formatted as numbers. Any help?

Thank you

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
Hi, welcome to the board.

As there are different types of subtotal formula, please post the one you are using.

Hi Gerald,

Thank you for your reply. I am using sum (=subtotal(9,I9:I14); I have this formula at I15 and for different ranges at I21, I35, and grand total at I36. when I insert new row between the formula and the range, the formula updated on I15 and I36 (the first and last) however if I insert row before I21 and I35 the formula doesn't update.

Thank you for your help
