Hello,

I keep entering 4-11-9 and excel turns it into date format. I don't want this to be a date because it is a part number for something I'm working on. I tried changing the format to 'text' but then it has a small small triangle in the corner and a note in the cell that says "This cell contains a date string represented with only 2 digits for the year". How do I make the cell just contain what I type?

Thanks,

What is =ROMAN(40) in Excel?
The Roman numeral for 40 is XL. Bill "MrExcel" Jelen's 40th book was called MrExcel XL.
Format the cell as Text BEFORE entering any values in it.
Don't worry about the green triangle in the upper corner. Sometimes Excel is too smart for itself and it thinks that you meant to do something differently, and is just recommending easy ways for your to convert it. But it causes no issues it being there.
